UNICEF UNITE: General
UNICEF UNITE is UNICEF USA's grassroots movement, composed of volunteer-led and staff-supported local teams across the country advocating or taking action day in and day out to put children first.
Each UNICEF UNITE team is composed of a diverse community of UNICEF USA supporters committed to advancing local, state and national advocacy, fundraising, communications and community-building efforts to grow the number of Americans who care about putting children first at home and abroad.
A UNITER is a UNICEF USA supporter who cares about protecting the rights of children, here and abroad. A UNITER takes action to put children first. Anyone and everyone can be a UNITER. If you belong to a UNICEF High School or Campus Club or a UNICEF USA Regional Board, if you’re a member of NextGen or of a faith-based or civil society organization that partners with UNICEF USA, we are excited to have you in our UNITE family already! All of you volunteers and individuals taking action in your communities to put children first – we need you, too!
UNICEF UNITERS wear many hats but they all have one thing in common: a commitment to make the world a better place for children. By UNITING as one, we can have a far greater impact. If you haven’t joined UNITE yet, please sign up here.
- I am afraid that UNICEF USA does not currently have the capacity to support UNICEF UNITE internationally.
However, there are many more ways to make an impact. I encourage you to contact your country office by finding them on UNICEF’s Information by Country. There you can find out more about how you can generally support the work of UNICEF globally and in your region.
What is a UNICEF Club?
The UNICEF UNITE Clubs Program is comprised of a detailed year-long curriculum that empowers students to educate themselves about global humanitarian issues with educational resources and hands-on activities.
Do I have to be in High School or College in order to start a Club?
UNICEF Clubs are open to high schools, colleges, home schools, vocation/technical schools, non-profits organizations, faith-based organizations, and more. We encourage people to mobilize to start a UNICEF Club near them!
How can I connect with other Clubs in my area?
While we cannot release the contact information of clubs without their permission, we encourage you to visit the UNICEF Clubs Map to find clubs in your area on our website.
Can I start a Club overseas?
I am afraid that UNICEF USA does not currently have the capacity to support UNICEF Club internationally
However, there are many more ways to make an impact. I encourage you to contact your country office by finding them on UNICEF’s Information by Country. There you can find out more about how you can generally support the work of UNICEF globally and in your region.
How can I become a volunteer for UNICEF USA?
To become a UNICEF volunteer, join UNICEF UNITE here, to learn about all the ways you can take action to help UNICEF put children first. Once you register, we can point you toward any other UNICEF USA groups or programs that might be right for you!
Can I volunteer overseas for UNICEF USA?
Here at UNICEF USA, we provide support for volunteers in the United States who advocate, build awareness, speak out to their communities, and fundraise on behalf of UNICEF.
You can find out if your region has similar programs by visiting www.unicef.org/infobycountry and selecting your country of residence or work. There, you should be able to find information about opportunities and contact information for that office.
Can I be a part of UNICEF UNITE and join a UNICEF Club?
Yes! When you register to be a part of your school's UNICEF Club, you are also joining our larger community of supporters known as UNICEF UNITE. As a student you have the unique opportunity to be able to activate locally in many different ways. To begin, we always encourage students first to get involved in their school by joining or starting a UNICEF Club. After joining a club, you may look to see if there is a UNICEF UNITE team in your area. Your UNITE team can offer additional experiences, giving you opportunities to broaden your UNICEF network, take wider action and learn more about UNICEF’s work to put children first.
Are there internship opportunities?
A limited number of internship opportunities are available in our New York City National Headquarters and Regional offices. Placement is subject to the needs of the organization, and the skills and interests of the intern. Interns help in a variety of activities, including research, analysis, marketing, and communications. Interns also assist in general office support and special projects. UNICEF USA does not have overseas internships. For more information on available internships and other job offerings with UNICEF USA, please visit our website.
Internship applications open 1-2 months prior to the start of the program in Fall, Spring and Summer. To be considered for intern opportunities, apply online.
How can I work for UNICEF USA?
Thank you for your interest in wanting to work for UNICEF USA. Job opportunities and requirements may be viewed at our website at www.unicefusa.org/jobs.
How do I get involved with Advocacy?
There are a few ways you can use your voice for the world’s children.
First, please consider writing to your Members of Congress through our Action Center at act.unicefusa.org. On this page you will find opportunities to take action digitally on a range of UNICEF USA’s policy priorities.
To get more involved, and if you are not already a member, you can join UNICEF UNITE, our grassroots volunteer program. UNITERs meet with Congressional offices throughout the year to raise awareness of UNICEF’s work and build support for UNICEF USA’s legislative priorities.
I want to join the Congressional Action Team (CAT).
CAT is no longer a program of UNICEF USA. These teams have been replaced with UNICEF UNITE teams. UNICEF UNITE is UNICEF USA’s grassroots movement, composed of volunteer-led and staff-supported local teams across the country advocating or taking action day in and day out to put children first.
How can I invite someone from UNICEF USA to speak at my event?
We currently have Community Engagement Associates in different regions of the country that may be able to speak at your event based upon your need and their schedule. Here are a few guidelines when using our UNICEF USA logos:
All design templates must be emailed to volunteer@unicefusa.org for approval and/or editing. Designs will be sent back to you within one week with any changes and/or approval.
The UNICEF USA logo should be used only in its approved colors: white, black, and cyan blue. Any shirt the logo is placed on should only be white, black, cyan, or gray.
To protect the strength and integrity of the logo, a clear space area, free of competing visual elements, should be maintained. The minimum size of the logo should measure no less than 19 mm in width.
